Runner Automobiles PLC (DSE: RUNNERAUTO) is the pioneer of domestic two-wheeler and commercial vehicle manufacturing in Bangladesh. Established in 2000 by Hafizur Rahman Khan, Runner challenged the complete import dependency of Bangladesh’s automotive market by constructing the nation’s first comprehensive motorcycle manufacturing facility in Bhaluka, Mymensingh.
In 2019, Runner became the first automotive manufacturing company to list on the Dhaka Stock Exchange, leveraging capital to expand localization and component fabrication.
Bhaluka Industrial Complex & Localization
Runner’s 0.16-square-kilometer industrial complex in Bhaluka features advanced automotive manufacturing lines:
- Robotic Welding & Chassis Fabrication: Automated robotic welding stations fabricating motorcycle frames, swingarms, and exhaust systems from raw steel tubing.
- Cathodic Electrodeposition (CED) Paint Shop: Automotive-grade automated electro-deposition primer tanks and robotic topcoat spray booths ensuring anti-corrosive body finishes.
- Engine Machining & Assembly Lines: Clean-room assembly lines producing 4-stroke internal combustion engines tested on digital dynamometers.
Three-Wheeler Technology & Global Exports
Runner secured a historic manufacturing and technology transfer agreement with India’s Bajaj Auto to assemble LPG and CNG three-wheelers in Bangladesh. Runner was also the first Bangladeshi automotive firm to export domestically assembled motorcycles to international markets including Nepal and Bhutan.
