Summit Power Limited (DSE: SUMITPOWER) is the largest private infrastructure and power generation developer in Bangladesh, functioning as the key subsidiary of Summit Power International. Founded by Muhammed Aziz Khan in 1997, Summit broke the historical state monopoly on electricity generation by developing the nation’s first private sector power plant in Savar.
Today, Summit generates approximately 2,000 MW of electricity, representing nearly 8% of Bangladesh’s total installed national grid generation capacity.
Key Generation Assets & Combined Cycle Technology
Summit operates modern combined cycle and reciprocating engine plants engineered for high thermal efficiency:
- Bibiyana II Combined Cycle Plant (341 MW): High-efficiency gas turbine facility supplying low-cost baseload power to BPDB from Sylhet gas fields.
- Meghnaghat Dual-Fuel Plants: Strategically situated along the Meghna River to provide vital grid stability to the Greater Dhaka industrial belt.
- Moheshkhali FSRU Terminal: Operates an offshore Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) handling 500 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of imported LNG to fuel domestic power plants and factories.
